Planning a birthday, office lunch, family reunion, or holiday gathering? Puerto Rican catering can bring the dishes you love to the table without leaving you responsible for every pot of rice and tray of pernil.

The easiest place to start is with your event location, guest count, and the kind of help you need. Picking up prepared food is a different job from arranging delivery, setup, and servers. This guide walks through those decisions and brings together Puerto Rican catering options by California region, from restaurant trays to food-truck bookings and full-service events.

Start with your location and guest list

Before comparing menus, write down your city or ZIP code, event date, serving time, and estimated number of guests. Include the venue address if you have one. A restaurant being nearby does not automatically mean it delivers to your event.

Next, decide who will handle the food once it arrives. Will a relative collect the order? Do you need someone to set up a buffet? Does the venue provide tables and serving equipment?

For more businesses to consider near you, browse the CaliRicans Puerto Rican food directory. Contact each business directly about catering rather than assuming its regular takeout menu is available in party-sized portions.

The options below were checked in October 2026 using business websites, official profiles, and, where noted, firsthand event sources. Use the regional headings as a starting point, then confirm your venue, service needs, and date directly. Catering menus and service areas can change.

Bay Area and Santa Cruz Catering Options

Sol Food in the North Bay

Sol Food’s official catering page links to online ordering and lists its San Rafael, Mill Valley, and Petaluma locations. Check which location will handle your order and whether pickup or delivery works for your address.

The San Rafael ordering page’s catering section lists dishes including pollo al horno, pernil, arroz con gandules, beans, and salads. Individual dishes have their own preparation requirements, so review each selection before choosing your order date.

One useful detail: Sol Food says the inquiry form on its catering page is for questions, not placing orders. Sending a question does not reserve your food or pickup time.

For more about the restaurants, read our Sol Food spotlights for San Rafael, Mill Valley, and Petaluma.

El Coqui in Santa Rosa

El Coqui’s catering page offers family and party platters as well as customized full-service event catering. That gives you two starting points: prepared food for a gathering you will host yourself, or a conversation about help with a larger event. Use the catering quote form to discuss what your event needs.

Boriqua Kitchen in Oakland and the Bay Area

Oakland-based Boriqua Kitchen offers catering and food-truck bookings. If you want the truck at your event, ask about site access, setup needs, and the total for both the food and truck service. A mobile business’s public schedule is separate from availability for a private booking.

Puerto Rican Street Cuisine in Oakland

Puerto Rican Street Cuisine’s catering page offers an event quote for trays and half-trays. Its inquiry form asks for event details and pickup or delivery information, making it a useful starting point for a group meal. Confirm which fulfillment option works for your venue before finalizing the order.

Parada 22 in San Francisco

Parada 22’s official website links to its ezCater catering menu, which includes individual meals and group sides. If you are organizing a work lunch, compare those formats against your guest count and serving setup. Check the ordering page for the options available to your address and date.

Chi Chi’s Kiosko in the Bay Area

Chi Chi’s Kiosko is another Bay Area lead to contact: Foodwise’s October 2026 profile describes its Puerto Rican catering work. Reach out through the business’s official Instagram to ask about current menus, service area, and the kind of event support offered. Confirm those details directly rather than assuming a particular catering package.

Luna’s Borikén Bites in Santa Cruz

Luna’s Borikén Bites at Abbott Square Market lists catering services and private events on its official contact page. Share your guest count and event location when you inquire. Ask which dishes can be prepared for a group and whether the arrangement is food pickup, delivery, or another service format.

Sacramento and East Bay Catering Options

Maru’s Kitchen from Sacramento to the East Bay

Maru’s Kitchen names the Sacramento area, Oakland and the East Bay, and places between as its service area. Its catering menu and event form let you explore dishes and discuss staffing or custom requests. Include your exact venue in the inquiry so the team can confirm travel and service arrangements.

Los Angeles County Catering Options

Mofongos in North Hollywood

Mofongos advertises Puerto Rican catering through its official catering page. Ask about the services available for your date, venue, and group size.

You can also read our Mofongos North Hollywood spotlight for an introduction to the restaurant.

Casa de Lola in Los Angeles

Casa de Lola is a Los Angeles catering and pop-up business serving Dominican and Puerto Rican dishes. Its official story introduces siblings Victor and Gabriela Ramos and the family recipes behind their cooking. Use the contact page or official Instagram to ask about current menus, your event location, and pickup, delivery, or other service arrangements.

Taínos L.A. in Woodland Hills

Taínos L.A.’s catering page distinguishes full-service events, family trays, and individually packaged corporate meals. Its family-tray option is listed for pickup, while full-service catering includes delivery. Tell the team which format you need and confirm the details for your event rather than treating every option as the same service.

La Casa de Iris in Long Beach

La Casa de Iris advertises catering on its official Instagram profile. Contact the Long Beach business for a current group menu and a quote for your guest count. Ask how ordering and pickup or delivery are arranged; the catering announcement alone does not specify a complete event package.

Lupe’s Boricua Kitchen in the San Gabriel Valley

Lupe’s Boricua Kitchen offers Puerto Rican catering in Southern California and takes direct inquiries for larger orders. For a San Gabriel Valley gathering, send your date, guest count, and preferred dishes to discuss a quote. Arrange pickup or delivery directly and confirm how much notice your order needs.

Sweedith Bakes in Gardena

Sweedith Bakes offers more than sweets: its official menu includes savory trays such as pernil, arroz con gandules, stewed chicken or beef, plantains, and salads. The official Instagram profile identifies Gardena pickup and catering. Ask about current menu choices, portions, and pickup arrangements for your group.

Priscilla’s Empanadas in San Pedro

For an empanada-centered gathering, Priscilla’s Empanadas is a San Pedro option serving Puerto Rican food. Its official website includes a catering request form for your event date, time, location, and guest count. Ask about the current menu, quantities, advance notice, and pickup or delivery arrangements before making plans. A catering inquiry is a starting point, not a confirmed booking or a promise of full-service event support.

Orange County Catering Options

Señor Big Ed in Cypress

Señor Big Ed’s official website lists catering trays and phone ordering for its Cypress restaurant. Options include rice, beans, pernil, carne guisada, pasteles, and appetizers. Ask the restaurant to help match tray sizes and quantities to the rest of your menu, and confirm the dishes available for your order date.

San Diego County Catering Options

AntoYitos Borincanos in San Diego County

AntoYitos Borincanos is a Puerto Rican food-truck option for private events. Its owner-verified FoodTrucksIn listing accepts hire inquiries, and BRICK’s wedding feature documents the truck serving a celebration there. Contact AntoYitos through its official Instagram to confirm availability and your venue’s truck-access requirements. Read our AntoYitos Borincanos spotlight for more about the business.

Build a menu around your guests

Choose the dishes that matter most to your gathering first. Maybe that is pernil with arroz con gandules, chicken with rice and beans, or a spread that leaves room for plantains and dessert. Treat these as menu ideas to discuss, not a promise that every caterer offers every dish.

Tell the caterer whether the food will be the main meal or part of a potluck. A tray’s suggested serving count is more useful when the restaurant knows what else guests will be eating. Ask for quantities based on the whole menu instead of guessing how many trays to order.

Bring up vegetarian needs, food allergies, and other dietary requirements before finalizing selections. Ask about ingredients, preparation, and shared equipment. At Sol Food, for example, the San Rafael catering menu describes its arroz con gandules as containing pork and notes a vegan option. A dish’s name alone does not tell you how it is prepared.

Ask for the full cost and service details

A helpful catering quote should make clear what you are getting. Before you commit, ask:

  • Which dishes and quantities are included, and how many guests is the order intended to serve?
  • What is the total after tax, delivery, service charges, staffing, and any rentals?
  • Are plates, eating utensils, serving spoons, napkins, and warming equipment included or separate?
  • What is the pickup or delivery window, and who should you contact that day?
  • When must you finalize the guest count, and what are the payment, cancellation, and change policies?

Compare quotes for the same guest count and service level. A food-only pickup order and a staffed event will cover different needs, even when the menus look similar.

Check holiday plans separately

For Thanksgiving, Christmas, Nochebuena, or another holiday, ask specifically about that date. A regular catering page does not confirm a holiday menu, holiday opening hours, or a seasonal order deadline.

Ask when orders open, whether your preferred dishes will be offered, and when the restaurant needs your final confirmation. Get those details directly before building your celebration around them.

Confirm the plan before event day

Keep the final menu, total, timing, and contact information together. Confirm who will receive the order and ask the caterer for any transport, storage, reheating, and serving instructions.

Then you can spend less time sorting out missing details and more time enjoying the meal with your guests!
